Vegho: the Association of Ghent Port Related Companies
The Association of Ghent Port Related Companies (VeGHO) unites about 90% of the companies located in and near the port of Ghent. Given the (industrial) character of the port of Ghent, VeGHO consists mainly of B2B-companies. Great deals of our members are "large" companies - also and principally in terms of employment - organized as multinationals and present on the international scene. The aims of VeGHO:
- VeGHO is a representative interprofessional association aiming to improve the understanding and cooperation between companies directly or indirectly active in the Ghent port area, to determine common positions and to publish them;
- VeGHO aims to promote, protect and represent the interests of the Ghent port region companies;
- VeGHO aims to designate the representatives of the employers in relevant entities and bodies;
- VeGHO aims to contibute in an active way to the further development of the Port of Ghent as a sustainable, favourable economical environment for the companies that are or wish to be active in this region.
As an employers' association, VeGHO represents the industry of Ghent in the Federal Committee for the Seaport Policy, the Flemish Ports Committee, the Flemish Port Association, and a large number of provincial and local committees and working groups.

Gentse Havengemeenschap: the Ghent Port Community
The Ghent Port Community is an umbrella organization based on two
actors : the companies and the authorities.
The main goal of the Ghent Port Community is to be a concertation unit,
a forum where the port companies (through VeGHO and CEPG) and the different
authorities ( the Ghent Port Company AMC, local authorities, provincial
authorities, Ministry of the Flemish Community, the federal Administration
for Maritime Affairs and parastatal associations) meet, to discuss each others vision through an open-minded
exchange of views, to adopt - preferably common - positions and to defend
them when necessary. Like VeGHO (Association of Ghent Port Related Companies),
the core-activity consists of defending interests.
The Ghent Port Community contributes to the promotion of the port of Ghent
in its own region and provides support for the promotion abroad, if necessary.
This non-profit organization aims at stimulating the development of the
port of Ghent and its activities in the broadest sense of the word.
